Pale Ale
Inspiration
This was the first beer By The Horns Brewery ever brewed. Okay they have tweeked the recipe since its inception, but this beer inspired them to start their brewery back in 2011. Originally, they brewed this beer on their homebrew setup. Back in 2010, they sought to brew a low abv copy of the classic Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. (This was the beer that first gave them the inspiration to start brewing).
Expect
A light soft bready malt backbone, with tropical citrus hop notes shining through with a hit of bitterness on the finish.
Malt
British Extra Pale Malted Barley, Torrefied Wheat, Munich malt & Cara malt.
Hops
Cascade, Chinook & UK Goldings
ABV 3.4%
The By The Horns Brewery Story
Interestingly, By The Horns Brewing Co. was launched in 2011 due to the lack of beer choice on offer in pubs, off-licenses & bars in the UK.
Alex Bull & Chris Mills, the two founders, wanted to tear away from their corporate jobs and give themselves the freedom to do what they enjoyed most…brew beer.
The UK brewing landscape in 2011 was very different to what it is today. There was absolutely no blueprint for what they wanted to do.
In forming By The Horns Brewing Co. their vision was to brew approachable beers but bring taste, choice and flavour to the forefront.
