Skinners Betty Stogs

Betty Stogs – new on today at The Fox Inn at Fox Corner.

Betty Stogs from Skinners – brewers notes: With whole-flower Celeia, Northdown and Aurora hops alongside malted barley and wheat, this is a Cornish twist on a classic smooth-drinking ale. The light malty aroma leads to a floral, even cedar taste, and a sharp tang of bitter grapefruit leaves a lasting impression; just like Betty herself…

The beer name: The full-bodied, fun-loving character of Betty Stogs marched straight out of Cornish folklore to take her throne as the Queen of Cornish ales.

What’s the story? A quirky character yes, from Cornish folklore, Betty Stogs was reputedly full-bodied, golden-hearted and just a little fruity. So, you can see why we chose to name our award-winning, smooth-drinking amber ale after her.

People in Cornwall associate Betty with more than just beer, as over the years Betty has appeared larger than life at countless charity events. Aka Fred Thomas has raised thousands of pounds every year for local good causes whilst playing Betty- money which has directly benefitted the Cornish community in times of need.
