Tillingbourne Brewery Falls Gold – new on today at The Fox Inn at Fox Corner.
A superb golden ale with a soft fruity nose. A bitter apricot front is followed by more soft fruits and a charming light hoppiness. Interestingly, this was the first regular beer from the Tillingbourne stable and remains their best seller. In addition it was brewed to be light, golden, slightly hopped session ale, with a taste appealing to everyone. It is very easily drunk and complements most meals as its clean taste does not overpower flavours of most dishes.

In particular. it is nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Tillingbourne Brewery has an enviable location well off the beaten track. Moreover. it is close to the picturesque village of Shere. Interestingly, the name is taken from the short river which starts as a spring on Leith Hill and meanders through the heart of the Surrey Hills villages. A river steeped in history and famous for the production of gunpowder.
Because it is housed in two barn style buildings, the brewery has a delightful courtyard feel and plenty of character. Furthermore, they currently have three 17 barrel (68 casks) fermenters which enable them to brew 4896 pints of ale per week.
Their Story
When the brewery equipment housed at Old Scotland Farm came up for sale in July 2011, it proved the perfect opportunity for chief brewer Steve to fulfil his lifelong dream of owning his own brewery.
In partnership with an old school friend Lee – the sales & marketing brains of the business – the purchase was completed in September 2011 and then the major task of cleaning, decorating and upgrading the brewery began…
On 19th November 2011, the first Tillingbourne brew was finally underway. With over 20 years’ experience, moving from brewing 120 pints for private consumption to nearly 5,000 pints commercially was always going to be a challenge. But under Steve’s strict quality control, we did it and without compromise.
Their reputation for quality grew as quickly as their reputation for being hop fanatics. Their passion for infusing beers with copious amounts of hops has also become a signature.
